Privacy policy
Giftlight: Gift Finder Quiz ("the app") is made by North Star Studio. Last updated October 29, 2026.
What the app reads
With your permission, the app reads your store's products and collections (titles, product types, tags, prices, variants and whether they're in stock, images and product links) and your store's name, currency and web address, to build your quiz. It does not read orders, customers or any shopper's personal information.
What we store
Your store's domain, name, currency and web address; an access token Shopify issues to the app; which of the app's plans you're on, as Shopify reports it, so the app can show your monthly quiz completions against your plan; your quiz (its questions, the words you change, the choices you show or hide, and a short copy of the products it can recommend: title, price, image, link and variant); and, for each day, how many quizzes were started and finished, how many recommended products were clicked and added to cart, and the total price of those adds. These counts are kept for up to 400 days and say nothing about who took the quiz. Only you see them, in the app. Nothing else.
Shoppers who take the quiz
The quiz runs in the shopper's browser on your store. Their answers are used there to pick products; the app doesn't save them. The quiz tells us only that a step happened (started, finished, clicked, added to cart), which of your products was clicked or added, and for an add to cart its price; we keep only the daily counts above. A shopper who has declined analytics in your store's cookie banner isn't counted at all. It sets no cookies of its own and we don't keep shoppers' IP addresses. Shopify passes the signed-in customer's ID with requests to apps on your store's domain; the app doesn't save or log it. When a shopper adds a product from the quiz, the app marks their cart with a hidden note (_giftfinder) holding the quiz's ID, so you can see in Shopify which orders came through the quiz.
Deleting your data
Uninstall the app and we delete your quiz, your counts and the access token right away. Shopify's data deletion requests are honored the same way. The app holds no customer data, so customer data requests have nothing to return.
Where the data is
North Star Studio is in the United States and isn't established in Europe. The app runs on Cloudflare's network, so the data above may be stored and processed outside your country, including outside Europe. We don't sell it or use it for anything but running the app for you.
